There are countless Buddhist scriptures in the world . Each one of them can lead to profound understanding in one particular sect. If I use the metaphor that entering university is like practicing Buddhism, the more one reads, they better you are at your major. All sutras would be textbooks for all different departments except for one--Tsongkhapa 's Lamrim . Lamrim is not a textbook. It is a prospectus, an instructor manual telling you what the university is about and what you should do.
