一般现在时（the present tense）
1、表示经常或习惯性的动作；
I brush my teeth twice a day.
2、描述主语现阶段的状态、特征等；
Tom is in Class 6, Grade 1.
3、表示按计划或安排要发生的动作；
The train leaves at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
4、表示客观事实或普遍真理；
The earth moves around the sun.
5、表示格言或警句中；
Pride goes before a fall.
一般过去时（the past tense）
概念：表示过去某个时间里发生的动作或状态；
I had a nightmare last night.
He used to visit his mother once a week.
特殊用法：一般过去时有时可代替一般现在时，表达一种婉转、客气、商量的语气。如：
I wanted to ask you if I could borrow your car?
一般将来时（the future tense）
概念：表示将来某一时刻或某一段时间内的动作或状态；
This is just what I am going to say.
I shall / will give her a hand-made craft as her birthday gift.
特殊用法1：短暂性动词的正在进行时表将来。
My mother is coming to visit me next week.
特殊用法2：be about to表将来。
I am about to leave for the airport.
特殊用法3：be to do表将来。
You are to go to bed and keep quiet, kids.
过去将来时（the past future tense）
概念：表示从过去的某一时间来看将来要发生的动作或呈现的状态；
I didn't know if he would come.
She told us that she would not go with us, if it rained.
You said on Thursday you would see me the next day.
