Liwan District of Guangzhou recently released a recruitment notice seeking for volunteer interpreters. The district welcomes volunteers from all over the world.

Dear volunteers:

The COVID-19 outbreak at Liwan District has been effectively controlled. However, the district is still under great pressure due to the increasing number of imported cases.

To further strengthen epidemic control and prevention on overseas returnees, Liwan Foreign Affairs Office and Communist Youth League plan to recruit a group of volunteers to carry out interpretation service in designated hotels for inbound travelers, residential communities or through online platforms.

Detailed information is as follow:

Ⅰ. Service Time

1.Date: March 26th – End of the epidemic, 00:00-24:00

2.Shift: 24 hours in 3 shifts.

Morning shift: 8:30 am – 14:00 pm

Afternoon shift: 14:00 pm – 18:30 pm;

Evening shift: 18:30 pm- 8:30 am;

(Choose the shifts based on personal schedule)

Ⅱ. Service Types

1. Provide interpretation service in designated hotels.

The recent designated hotels include 

Dongpengwan Hotel (Dongjiao North Road No.700)

Huatian Hotel (Rongxing Road No.19)

White Palace Hotel (The People's South Road No.13-17)

Hengchao Vocational Hotel (Chajiao Road No.3)

Lifeng Hotel Jiaokou Store (Fangcun Avenue East No.430)

Maohua Hotel (Zhanqian Cross Road No.45) and etc.

2. Provide interpretation service online or in residential communities.

Ⅲ. Service Content

Volunteers will gain full protection under the guidance of medical workers before offering inbound travellers interpretation service at the designed hotels. Volunteers are responsible for communication and interpretation services under the hotel principals. In addition, volunteers must follow the guidance of Liwan Foreign Affairs Office and help address the communication problems between expats and officials or medical staff.

Ⅳ. Requirement

1.Above 18 years old;

2.Physically and mentally healthy, no history of major illness; No travel history to Hubei Province or any high-risk epidemic areas in the past 14 days; no contact with people with travel history to Hubei or other high-risk epidemic areas;

3. Language requirement:

(1) Fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, German, Persian, Japanese or other foreign languages;

(2) If a candidate is a native speaker of a foreign language, he/she must be fluent in Chinese and have living or travelling experience in China;

4.We will give priority to candidates with study and living experiences overseas and those that are able to take the night shift;

5. Photos and information related to the volunteer service are forbidden to share via social media. Personal information of inbound travellers is also confidential.

Ⅴ. Guarantee

1.The hotel will provide gowns, masks and other protective equipment based on the requirement of epidemic control and prevention;

2. We will provide meals and accommodation.

Ⅵ. Notice

The parking lots of some hotels have been occupied. Public transportation is recommended.
