对于识记单词，各人有各法，但只要用自己的方法能准确识记，那就是有效的方法。
例如识记window这个单词，有的记法是“w在两头，in, do在里头”；也有的记法是“两个女人(W)在里面做事(in, do)”。
再例如识记banana这个单词，易错处是3个元音字母a，有人的记法是“香蕉一个一个又一个长在一起（a表示“一”）”。
似这 类含3个a的单词还有Canada(加拿大)，顺便也就记住了。
本部分介绍的“特殊速记法”，实际上就是“个性速记法”，旨在给同学们提供一些识记单词的特殊思路，同学们不妨自己也找一找有哪些有效的记忆方法。
1. month与mouth辨异
month中有n，mouth中有u，根据这两个字母的“形象”，n是“口朝下”，u是“口朝上”，我们可以这样识记：

8. welcome的拼写与词义
welcome的意思是“欢迎、受欢迎的”。观察其词形可以看出，它是由“wel(l)好+come来”构成，

13. habitat的拼写与词义
habitat的意思是“栖息地；生长环境”。观察其词形可以看出，它是由“habit（习惯）+ at（在……地方）”构成，我们可以用单词拆分法速记：“习惯+在某地→栖息地”

They destroyed that habitat of bees for ourneeds. 他们为了自己的需要毁坏蜜蜂的栖息地。
It will tell you the names of the fish andtheir habitat. 它将告诉你这些鱼的名字以及它们的栖息地。

24. across和through
across和through的汉语意思都是“通过、穿过”，然而它们在英语中表示穿过的地方却不同。across指“横穿”，例如“过河、 过马路”等，所指的地点通常是“对岸、对面”；through指“直穿”或“从里面穿过”，例如“穿过隧道、街道、森林”或“透过窗户”。我们可以用汉语成语“横冲直闯”进行辨异识记：

The nine-year boycan swim across the river. 那个九岁的男孩能游过那条河。
The old man walkedacross the road carefully. 那个老人小心地越过马路。
This is the secondbridge being built across the river. 这是正在建设的横跨这条河的第二座桥。

The driver drovevery slowly through the tunnel. 过隧道时，那个司机把车开得很慢。
They were walkingthrough the t forests. 他们当时正在森林里行走。
Many buses runthrough the streets of the city. 许多公交车行驶于这座城市的大街上。

55. over和above
over和above的汉语意思都是“在……上方”，其实它们表达的位置也有区别。over指的是 “在正上方”，而above则泛指上方，不一定是正上方，即可能是斜上方。我们可以用汉语的四字结构“上正下歪”进行辨异识记：
His office is right over ours. 他的办公室就在我们正头上的那个房间。（在我们房间的垂直上方）
His office is above ours on the second floor.他的办公室在我们上面的二楼。（在上面二楼的一个房间，但不一定是正上方。）
The mountain is 4500 meters above sea-level. 那座山峰海拔4500米高。
The sun rose above the horizon. 太阳升到地平线上。（没有垂直关系）【温馨提示】
★ 在一物与另一物之间具体位置不明确的情况下，over和above可以通用。例如：
A lamp was hanging over（或above）thetable. 电灯悬挂在桌子上方。
★ 表示“覆盖整个下方”用over。例如：
The sun shone over the valley. 太阳普照山谷。（含“覆盖整个下方”之意）Have you read the book Red star Over China written by Edgar Snow? 你读过埃德加·斯诺写的《红星照耀中国》这本书吗？（书名中的over也含有“覆盖整个下方”之意）
★ 表示“接触式的覆盖”要用over。例如：
Pleasespread the tableclothover the table. 请把桌布铺在桌上。

76. “找a对a法”速记-aught和-ought的拼写
catch，teach，buy, bring，fight，think，seek等都属不规则动词，它们的过去式和过去分词，有的是-aught，有的是-ought。由于-aught和-ought读音相同（都读[?:t]），结构又只有一个字母之差，因此，拼写时往往容易出错。请用“找a对a法”速记。
seek——sought——sought
注意，这个“找a对a法”的方法只适用于上面这些不规则动词，其它单词中的-aught和-ought与此规则无关，需要个别识记。另外，英语中还有一些含-augh和-ough的单词，拼写时也需注意。
