Success
There are no secrets to success. Success is doing the things you should do. It is not doing the things you know you should not do. It is not limited to any one area of your life. It is a part of every one of your relationships. You should try to be a success as a parent, a wife or husband, a neighbor and a worker. You cannot become a success one day and stop there. You will always need to do things so that you can stay successful. Success is having the courage to fail and still keep going. It is refusing to let a loss stop you from reaching your lifelong goals. Anyone can be a success if he puts his mind to it.
成功没有秘诀。成功就是做你该做的事。不要做你明知道不该做的事。它不局限于你一生中任何一个领域。它是你任何一个关系的一部分。你应该努力做个成功的父母，妻子或丈夫，邻居和员工。你不能有朝一日成为一个成功者就停在那儿。你要一直不断地努力才能保持成功。成功是有勇气去面对失败并勇往直前。成功也是拒绝让失败阻止你达到终生的目标。任何人只要下定决心都能成功。
语法重点
1. 介绍引导从句的连词 that 各类用法：
a.引导名词从句作表 ''知道、了解、提及'' 之意及物动词的宾语，that可予省略，如下列：
I know/understand（及物动词） (that)Peter is coming back next week.
我知道彼得下星期会回来。
John said/mentioned（及物动词） many times (that) he didn't like his boss.
约翰多次表示∕提及他不喜欢他的老板。
b. 表 ''喜欢''、''痛恨'' 的及物动词须接名词 the fact，再接 that 引导的名词从句作其同位语，即：
I like (及物动词) that David is fond of learning English. (×)
= I like the fact（宾语） that David is fond of learning English（the fact 的同位语）. (○)
戴维喜欢学英语，这件事我挺喜欢的。
I hate that Dad often gambles. (×)
→ I hate the fact（宾语） that Dad often gambles（the fact 的同位语）. (○)
老爸常赌博，这点我很痛恨。
＊若干英美人士会认为 hate 之后可直接接 that 从句作宾语，即他们认为 ''I hate that...'' 是可以接受的，不过多数人认为这非合乎语法的正确用法。
c. 通常介词之后不可直接接 that 从句作宾语，即：
We are curious about(介) that John has been late to work recently. (×)
→ We are curious about the fact（宾语） that John has been late to work recently（the fact 的同位语）. (○)
约翰最近上班都迟到，这点我们很好奇。
＊上列句子可省略介词，之后直接接 that 从句，即：
We are curious that John has been late to work recently. (○)
此时 that 引导的名词从句之前有形容词 curious（好奇的），故 that从句因为修饰该形容词，此时就不再是名词从句，而是副词从句，就如同副词修饰形容词一样。
2. 少数介词可与 that 从句的 that 搭配，视作副词连词，引导副词从句，常用 的这类副词连词如下例：
in that... 因为……（= because...）
so that... 这样的话就……
except that... 只可惜∕只不过是……
Peter is really something in that he can play many musical instruments.
彼得真了不起，因为他会演奏许多乐器。
I must get going so that I can catch the last bus home.
我必须动身了，这样的话我就可以赶搭最后一班公交车回家。
Generally speaking, Paul is nice except that he is a bit stingy.
一般而言，保罗这个人不错，只可惜他有点儿小气。
3. 本文倒数第四句即采用副词连词 so that：
You will always need to do things so that you can stay successful.
你要一直不断地努力才能保持成功。
