Teaching objectives

Knowledge objectives:Students can master the meanings of some key words, expressions and sentence patterns, like keyboard, mouse, do word processing, search for information and what do you usually use your computer for. They can also use them to talk about topic computers freely in their daily life.

Ability objectives:Improve students listening skills by asking them to pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation while they listen to the tape/recorder and to enhance their speaking skills by correcting their mistakes while they perform a dialogue.

Emotional objectives:lead students to form a good habit of using computers and aware the importance of technologies, which have brought great changes to our lives.

Key points: help students master the meaningsof words, expressions and sentence patterns and be able to use them correctly in their speaking and listening activities, and also use computers in the right way in their daily life.

Difficult points:help students to keep in an active and relaxed state when they listen to a dialogue and lead them to master the right pronunciation and intonation when they act out the dialogue.

Teaching procedure

Step 1 lead-in

Free talk: I will show students some pictures and ask them to have a free talk about what they know about computers to lead in the new topic.

step 2 presentation and practice

lead them to learn Part A. I will first draw some pictures of the parts of a computer on the blackboard (like this……,turn around and draw the pictures), andI write the name of them in a different order. Then I will lead them to match the words with the right pictures. After they have learned the words, I will give them some times to talk with their partners about 2 questions:1.Do you have a computer? 2.what does your computer like?

Pair works, Students are able to master the words of computers. Then I will lead them to learn part B. when I begin part B, I will first ask students what they do with computers and give them some time to think about it, then I tell them that Daniel and Simon are also talking about the uses of computers. And I will play the recorder and invite them to find out what they use computers for. When they are listening, I write down the main expressions on the blackboard. After listening for the first time, I will check students’ findings. Then I will play the recorder twice and give them some guidance to pay attention to the expression use computer to.During this time students can get the right answers. Then I ask students to look at the screen, I will show them the expressions with pictures help them to get the meanings of each expressions. ThenI give them some time to practice the dialogue with new expressions. When they finish,I will ask two groups to preform and correct their pronunciation and intonation.

Step3Consolidation,

I will divide students into 6 groups and invite them to make a survey about what they usually do with computers, and discuss which are good uses or bad uses of computers.When they finish their survey, I will invite one group to present their findings. Then invite other groups to make supplements.

Step 4 Summary

I will invite two students to summarize what they have learned in this lesson with the help of the blackboard design. And encourage students to use the computer in a healthy way.

Step 4 Homework

The first one is to finish the exercises in exercises book. And the second one is to collect different uses of computers and write a short passage about your favorite uses of computers with reasons.
