教学目标：
1．知识目标：
1）识记单词：accents, dialect, typical, ordinary, tradition,changeable;。
2）识记短语：expect to do sth, on the other hand, spend a week with …, be proud of , typical English food, local habits
2．能力目标：训练学生掌握良好的阅读习惯和阅读方法，即略读，速读，细读等，以便于提高学生的阅读能力。
3.情感目标：通过学习，让学生了解英国的文化，了解异域风情，从而激发学习兴趣，增强学习英语的积极性。
教学重难点：
重点1．能用略读，详读，跳读的阅读方法进行阅读。
2．掌握该课出现的相关的词汇和短语，并能正确的使用。
难点：能利用课文中出现的重要词汇和线索来复述课文。
教学准备:
1.学生的课前准备:
1）自主预习本课的新单词，预习课文找出疑难
2）通过不同的渠道了请查阅了解关于英国情况的介绍，主要从语言，食物，气候，习惯和传统方面进行介绍,以备课堂讨论。
2.教师的课前准备：
1）搜索有关Britain的资料：历史，天气，交通工具的变化;
2)认真备课并将已有资料，设计的问题和任务制作课件
学习过程：
Step one: Lead-in
Show some beautiful pictures about <st1:country-region w:st="on">Britain. There are many famous places, like the Big Ben, the Cambridge.
Ask students: Which country are the places in?
Step 2 Reading
1 Fast Reading
Get the students read fast and answer the questions, and then check the answers.
1) How long had the writer stayed at <st1:country-region w:st="on">England?
2) What’s the main idea of this letter about?
2. Careful reading:Read the letter carefully andJudge the following questions right r wrong.
(1) I began to understand their English a little better after Ihad spent 2 weeks with my English family.( )
(2) Different cities of <st1:country-region w:st="on">Britain speak the same English. ( )
(3) I get rather mad now when I heard that fish and chips were eaten in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Britain every day. ( )

3. Listening and explaining:
Have student listen and read the letter in their heart. Underline the words, phrases or sentences that they can’t understand. The students help each other and solve the problems in groups first. Then,the teacher explains the important language points and phrases.
4. Reading by themselves.
After that, let the students read the letter loudly. Then sum up the meaning of each paragraph.
Step3. Speaking.
According the meaning of each paragraph they have summed up, let the students try to retell the text.
