Teaching procedures
Step I. Warming-up and revision
1. Watch the video of the song “In a nature park” and do the actions.
2. Have a revision.
T: Look at the picture on PPTs. This is a room. Can you make a sentence like this: “There is a clock in the room.”?
Then the students make some sentences with “There is…”
Step II. Presentation
1. Show a picture of a room on the PPT and ask:
T: Is there a bed in the room? Yes or No?
Lead the students to answer “Yes, there is.”
The teacher asks a few questions like that. Then the teacher asks about something that doesn’t exist in the picture.
T: Is there a dog in the room?
Ss: No.
Lead the students to answer “No, there isn’t.”
2. A guessing game in PPTs.
The students should use the sentences like these:
Is there a/an … in the room?
Is there a/an … in the zoo?
3. What’s in the park?
Show the pictures of the words: mountain, hill, lake, river and forest.
The students try to pronounce these words by the rules of pronunciation. The teacher will give some help to the students.
4. Compare “mountain” with “hill” by pictures
5. Ask and answer according to the pictures.
T: Is there a … in the park?
Ss: Yes, there is.
No, there isn’t.
6. Games.
Game 1: Golden finger and the bomb in PPTs.
Game 2: “Which is missing?” by cards.
Game 3: A magic bag.
The students should ask like this: Is there a/an … in the bag?
If the students’ guessings are right, they will get candies.
Step III. Consolidation and extension.
1. What do we learn today?
Make a summary of what we learn today.
2. Sing the song “In a nature park”.
