Yeah, sometimes I enjoy my vegetables baked or grilled.

No, I only like eating raw veggies.

Some veggies are more healthy cooked

有些蔬菜烧熟了更健康


Some rawists claim that cooking destroys vitamins and minerals in food. So they only eat uncooked foods.

However, some vegetables are actually more healthy cooked!

Can you guess which ones?

Tomatoes
番茄


Tomatoes contain lycopene (番茄红素), a potent antioxidant (抗氧化剂).


Watermelon, pink guava (粉红番石榴), red bell pepper, and papaya (木瓜) also contain lycopene. 


Cooking tomatoes helps break down the cell walls (细胞壁). The body can absorb the lycopene more efficiently.

Carrots
胡萝卜


Carrots contain beta-carotene (胡萝卜素), which the body converts to vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for our vision, bone growth, and immune system (免疫系统).

Cooking carrots increases their level of beta-carotene!
