mobile是可移动的意思，mobile phone就是指移动式电话。

而cell phone相当于celluar phone，指的是数字蜂窝式电话，大家都知道手机信号是由移动通讯基站提供的，蜂窝系统就是许多基站构成的无线通讯网络。

mobile phone和cell phone的使用范围也不一样。mobile phone是英式英语，而cell phone是美式英语。

pay phone可不是买电话付钱哦！实际上这个词意思是公用电话、投币电话。

There was a pay phone on the wall next to the hall stand.

接电话可不是用receive哦！是用answer the phone或pick up the phone表示接电话。

My dad answered the phone.

爸爸接了电话。

put the phone down意思就是挂电话，如果是生气地挂电话就是用slam the phone down表示，slam意思是砰地关上、用力一放。

表示挂了某人的电话，就在后面加上on sb，put the phone on sb。

I only remembered his name after I had put the phone down.

我挂了电话后只记得他的名字了。

I was so mad I just slammed the phone down.

我气糊涂了就直接挂了电话。

the phone is busy/engaged表示电话占线中。busy是美式表达，而engaged是英式表达。
