''big banana'' 才不是“大香蕉”！！想歪了会被揍的！

小时候我们就会说很多水果的英语啦，但是很多水果都有更深层次的含义哦。

千万不要在不清楚的情况下，胡乱理解呢，不然就闹笑话啦！

前段时间我们讲了peach、sour grape、apple、lemon等，那么今天大白就讲讲其他的~

n. 香蕉

我们都知道香蕉是 banana，那 the big banana 就是大香蕉的意思了吗？不是的哈，理解错了小黄人要生气的~~

实际上，the big banana 是一个固定的俚语，意思是“大人物、大亨”。所以这个俚语反倒是褒义词哦~

He wants to be the big banana, but it's too hard.

他想成为有影响力的人，但很难。

而且，它还有两个小伙伴，分别是 top banana 和 to go bananas.

top banana 中的 top 表示最重要的，极好的，所以 top  banana 也表示主要人物、大人物。

而 to go bananas 则表示某人发疯、精神错乱、情绪不稳定的意思。

除此之外，它还有个短语，to go bananas for somthing. 也就是为某事发疯。

Jack is the top banana in this software company.

杰克是这家软件公司的老板。

This student drove the teacher bananas.

这个学生把老师逼疯了。

cherry — pick

cherry

n.    樱桃; 樱桃树; 樱花树; 樱桃木       

adj. 樱桃色的; 鲜红色的

cherry 是樱桃的意思，pick 是摘取的意思，而一般摘樱桃是一个漫长的过程，而且都是挑成熟的摘，所以 cherry — pick 在这里是指精挑细选的意思。

I cherry picked everything for our wedding, because I want to make sure it's perfect.

我对婚礼的每样东西都要精挑细选，希望一切都百分百完美。

除此之外，cherry 还有其他俚语，比如 cherry on the cake 和 a bite of the cherry. 

cherry on the cake 蛋糕上的小樱桃即锦上添花，想想在本来就好看的蛋糕上再加一颗小樱桃，是不是顿时觉得更美味啦。

而 a bite of the cherry 则是指做某事的机会或者时机。

Having all of you here for my party has really been wonderful, and this gift is the cherry on the cake.

fig 是无花果的意思，除此之外，fig 还可以表示无价值的东西，to not give a fig 也就是毫无重视，一点儿也不放在心上。

n. 猕猴桃；新西兰人; 几维(新西兰鸟，喙长、翼短、无尾、不能飞)

kiwi 有猕猴桃的意思，但是后来被用来指新西兰人。所以当某人说'I am a kiwi'的时候不要理解成了“我是猕猴桃哦”，真正的意思是“我是新西兰人”哦！

pineapple 是菠萝的意思，而有个短语 the rough end of the pineapple 则是指“受到不公平的待遇”或者“很倒霉的那个人”。
