Bangladesh Civil Servants for Further Study at Shanghai Administration Institute

Entrusted by the Training Center of Chinese Academy of Governance, Shanghai Administration Institute (SAI) received Bangladesh civil servants to research and study on September 26. The class consisted of 22 senior officials from several government departments of Bangladesh, including the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Information, and the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Education, among whom 17 were at the vice-ministerial level and 5 at the bureau or division level.

On the morning of that day, ZENG jun, Vice President of Shanghai Administration Institute, met the class members with enthusiasm and made a basic introduction of SAI. The directors of Foreign Affairs Office and Training Office accompanied to meet the trainees. Professor WANG zhiping, Director of Teaching and Research Department of Economics of SAI and Professor MA xiheng, Director of Teaching and Research Department of Sociology of SAI gave lectures in English respectively themed “Shanghai’s Economic Development and Building up a Service-oriented Government” and “The Innovation and Practice of Social Administration System Reform in Shanghai--Non-governmental Sectors Participating in Social Administration”. The trainees communicated actively with them and the class was abuzz with heated discussions.

Mr. Bijoy Bhattacharjee, the monitor of the Bangladesh civil servant training class and additional secretary of the Cabinet Division of Bangladesh spoke on behalf of the training class, expressing their gratitude for the thoughtful arrangement of Shanghai Administration Institute. He said China is well known in Bangladesh for not only the powerful manufacturing industry but also many development miracles, which should attribute to the effective leadership of the Chinese government and the diligence of Chinese people. As China is the largest trading partner of Bangladesh, the relationship between the two countries is developing rapidly. Many large enterprises in China – for example, Tencent – are very well known in Bangladesh. This journey to China, to see and experience in person in different cities and to listen to lectures given by teachers gave them an important chance to learn China’s successful experiences. They hoped to spark thinking and further promote the interaction between the two governments through bilateral communication and cooperation.
