考点1 并列连词

并列连词主要用来表示并列关系、转折关系、选择关系、因果推理关系等。

1. 表转折关系的并列连词

主要有but（但是），yet（可是），while（而，却）等。

Mary likes classical music, but her husband likes rock music.

玛丽喜欢古典音乐，而她的丈夫却喜欢摇滚乐。

I’ ve been away only for three years, yet I can hardly recognize my hometown.

我仅在外三年，可我几乎认不出我的故乡了。

The son was having a good meal at home, while the parents were working in the fields.

儿子在家吃好饭，而父母却在田里辛勤劳作。

注意 though和although 不能和but连用。

2. 表示选择关系的并列连词

主要有or（或者），either... or...（要么……要么……），neither... nor...（既不……也不……），otherwise（要不然）等。

Work harder, or you’ll fall behind. 努力点，否则你会落后的。

Either we will find a supply, or we will make the goods.

我们或是寻求供货，或者自己制造。

Neither was the price satisfactory, nor did the colour agree with me.

价格不太令人满意，颜色也不太适合我。

We’ll go early, otherwise we may not get a seat. 我们得早点去，要不然就没有座位了。

注意 neither... nor... 连接两个句子，注意用倒装语序。

3. 表并列关系的并列连词

主要有and, not only... but also...（不但……而且……）， when（=and just at this time 就在这时）等。

Follow the advice of the doctor, and you’ll be well very soon.

听从医生的建议，你会很快康复的。

Not only will help be given to disabled persons to find jobs, but also medical treatment will be provided for people who need it. 不仅要帮助残疾人求职，而且要对那些需要治疗的人给予治疗。

I was about to go out when someone knocked at the door. 我正要出去，这时有人敲门。

4. 表因果的并列连词

主要有for（因为），so（因此）等。

She found it increasingly difficult to read, for her eyesight was beginning to fail.

她发觉阅读越来越困难了，因为她的视力开始下降了。

I was an only child, so I had no experience of large families.

我是独生子，因此没有在大家庭里生活的经历。

注意

① 并列连词for引导的分句只能放在句尾，前面用逗号隔开，是表示补充说明的微弱理由，只是为前面的内容提供判断的理由。

② because 不能和so 连用。
