A young mother given just a year to livehas found hope after being the option to head to China forlast-ditch medical treatment.
Emily Woodman from Townsville was told inDecember she had stage four terminal cancer, but said she has been symptom-freesince heading overseas for therapy.

Unable to give up after being told sheshould 'go home and die,' the 30-year-old told Daily Mail Australia she was allbut forced to head to St. Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou for achance at surviving.

Since undergoing the low-dose treatments, MrsWoodman (pictured with her family on Sunday) said she had been symptom free andher blood tests are normal

Mrs Woodman's journey began shortly aftergiving birth to her daughter Charlotte in 2012, when a biopsy on a polyp cameback as cancerous.

After her condition continued to worsenshe was ultimately diagnosed with stage one cervical adenocarcinoma, a form ofcancer, in 2014.

She then underwent a hysterectomy, withAustralian doctors believing the worst was behind her and telling Mrs Woodmanthat she could go home.

But in 2016 the mother-of-one beganexperiencing a cough that wouldn't go away, which led them to find tumours aslarge as seven centimetres in her lungs.

'They told me I had stage four terminal cancer andthat I couldn't do surgery or radiation and that there were no drugs ortrials,' Mrs Woodman said.

Offered palliative chemotherapy she turnedthat option down, seeking out alternative therapies that would, she said,'offer me a chance'.

Realising she was running out of time andfeeling like she was 'drowning' thanks to fluid on her lungs she headedoverseas to China, to a hospital that offered to take her immediately.

'China was my best option as at that pointI couldn't be on a plane longer than nine hours,' Mrs woodman said.

The 30-year-old  (pictured with husband Mark)sought help from St Stamford Modern Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou after beingtold she should 'go home and die'

The centre offered her interventionaltherapy, immunotherapy and cryotherapy, with Mrs Woodman saying she felt theeffects almost immediately.

She coughed up part of the tumour afterjust four days, with it shrinking by more than half its size - to threecentimetres.

'I have had no symptoms since the firstday I was there and my blood tests are all normal now,' she said.

'I just don't understand why thistreatment - which is not new - isn't offered in Australia.

'It's amazing, it is much more gentle andallows for an easier recovery. But here it is private and not all cancers havethe option for the treatment.'

Even Mrs Woodman's Doctor Manuela Boyleclaimed the treatment had been amazing, telling News.com.au that shewas 'honestly back from the dead'.

The treatment did not comewithout its costs though - with Mrs Woodman and her husband Markspending upwards of $150,000.
However, she said it was worth it if itmeant giving her more time with her family.

The Chinese hospital offered to take her immediately andsince undergoing interventional therapy, immunotherapy and cryotherapy hasseen her lung tumour (pictured) shrink by half its size

Mrs Woodman said she felt as if people were being forcedelsewhere, with Australian doctors unwilling to give her 'a chance' attreatment and offering her just palliative chemotherapy

'I feel normal at the moment and yeah itmight give a little time or it might give me a lot of time.'

She said she felt as if people were beingforced elsewhere with Australian doctors unwilling to give them 'a chance' attreatment.
'It's really sad - a woman in the nextsuburb over I know is battling this as well and she has no money and no super. She's not doing well.'

The Cancer Council of Australia's CEOSanchia Aranda said it was understandable those without treatment options wouldconsider overseas treatment, but that Australia has 'one of the best healthsystems in the world.'

'Generally we recommendthat Australian patients talk to their local doctor about any alternativetreatments... unfortunately overseas treatments often don’t comewith the same level of scientific rigour as required in Australia,' he toldnews.com.au.

And while Mrs Woodman knows the treatmentwas no promise of a cure, she said the doctors in China at least helped 'giveit a go'.
She said: 'If I was eighty, then sure Imight have said okay, that's it. But at my age I couldn't.'
