Washington (CNN) -- British Prime Minister David Cameron will meet with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington next month, the White House announced Friday.

Cameron's March 13-14 visit, which includes a state dinner, will "highlight the fundamental importance of the U.S.-U.K. special relationship and the depth of the friendship between the American people and the people of the United Kingdom, as well as the strong personal bond that has developed between the two leaders and their families," according to a written White House statement.

Obama and Cameron will discuss upcoming G8 and NATO summits, as well as the war in Afghanistan and issues pertaining to the Middle East, Iran, the global economy and human rights, the statement noted.

Queen Elizabeth II hosted a state visit for Obama in Britain last May.
