一、There be句型的概念

There be结构主要表示某处存在某物，经常译为“有”，所以通常被称为存在句。其中的there为引导词，无词义，be为谓语动词，there be后面的名词为句子主语。

二、There be句型的主谓一致

“There be 主语(某人/某物) 介词短语”，表示“（在）某地有某人/某物”。这里的be动词单复数形式采取就近一致原则，即和靠近be的主语保持一致。

具体地说，there后面第一个主语为单数时，be就用is(was)，若是复数时be就用are(were)。如：

◆ There are three people in my uncle's family. 我舅舅家有三口人。

◆ There is a pen and two books on the desk. 书桌上有一支钢笔和两本书。

三、There be句型的否定式和疑问式

A、否定式：

“There be not 主语 介词短语”。如：

◆ There isn’t a boy in the room. 房间里没有一个男孩。

◆ There aren’t any books on the desk. 书桌上没有书。

注：There be句型的否定式构成和含有be动词的其他句型一样，在be后面加not或no即可。但是not和no不能相互替代，not是副词，no为形容词，not a/an/any 名词相当于no 名词。如：

There aren’t any pictures on the wall. = There are no pictures on the wall. 墙壁上没有画。

B、疑问式：

“Be there 主语 介词短语？”。肯定回答是：“Yes, there be.”，否定回答是：“No, there be与not的缩写形式”。如：

◆ Is there a lamp in your bedroom? 在你的卧室里有台灯吗？－Yes, there is. 是的，有。

◆ Are there any chairs in the living room? 客厅里有椅子吗？－No, there aren’t. 不，没有。

四、There be句型的时态

There be结构的时态由其中的谓语动词be来体现，它可以有一般现在时、一般将来时、一般过去时、现在完成时以、过去完成时等多种时态形式。如：

◆ There is an apple on the table. 桌子上有一个苹果。（一般现在时）

◆ There is going to be[will be] an English film tonight. 今晚将有一场英语电影。（一般将来时）

◆ There was nobody in the room. 房间里什么人也没有。（一般过去时）

◆ There have been many such accidents. 已发生了好几起那样的事故。（现在完成时）

◆ There had been two sea fights between them. 他们之间发生了两场海战。（过去完成时）

五、There be与have

两者都可以表示“有”，既有区别，也有联系。

区别：there be意为存在，强调某地有某物，不表示所属关系；have 表示所有或所属关系，强调某地有某物或某人，这是其基本用法。如：

◆ There are some trees in front of the house. 房前有些树。

◆ Tom has many friends in China. 汤姆在中国有许多朋友。

相通：在表示结构上的含有时，既可以用there be 句型，也可以用have(has)来表示。如：

◆ There are many long rivers in China. = China has many long rivers. 中国有许多长河。

◆ How many days are there in March? = How many days has March? 三月份有多少天？

六、There be的其他用法

1、There be后接表示物的主语时，后面常接不定式作定语，不定式常用主动形式表示被动意义。

There is a lot of work to do. 有许多工作要做（工作被做）。

2、There be后接表示人或动物的主语时，后面长接V-ing形式作定语。

There are some children playing downstairs. 几个孩子在楼下玩呢。

3、与其他词连用，构成复合谓语。如：

◆ There may be a heavy rain this afternoon. 今天下午可能有一场大雨。

◆ There used to be a cinema here before the war. 战前这里有一个电影院。

◆ There happened to be a man walking by. 恰好有一个人从旁经过。

4、There be结构中的be根据所表达的句意需要，可用live, stand, remain等代替。如：

◆ There seems[appears] something the matter with her. 她好像是出了什么事似的。

◆ There existed different opinions on this issue. 对这个问题曾有不同看法。

◆ There remained just twenty-eight pounds. 只剩 28 英镑了。

5、There be结构的反意疑问句应与there be对应，而不是依据主语。如：

◆ There is a radio on the table, isn’t there? 桌上有台收音机，是吗？

◆ There aren’t any fish in the river, are there? 河里没有鱼，是吧？
