关系副词when, where和why引导定语从句。在定语从句中分别作时间、地点和原因状语。
1. when指时间：I still remember the day when I first came to Beijing.
September is the month when students go back to school.
Was there a moment when I felt no pain?
The kids have reached the age when they can care for themselves.
There are times when you make me laugh.
2. where指地点：This is the house where I lived two years ago.
That is the school where I studied 10 years ago.
The factory where he worked was built in 1940.
This is the farm where I worked three years ago.
This is the place where we met yesterday.
3. why指原因，用在reason后：The reason why he was late is that the car broke down on the way.
That's the reason why I wrote to him.
That is the reason why he dislikes me.
Do you know the reason why I left early?
That is no reason why you should leave.
4．介词后指人用whom，指物用which．介词可提前，也可在后；在后时可用who, that，也可省略：The earth on which we live is a big ball.
This is the room in which we lived last year.
