圣诞节又来了It’s Christmas Time Again

At the beginning of the above video there is a news clip of a recent official announcement from the World Health Organization: Santa Claus is immune to COVID19, he’s fine, but he’s very busy.

刚才这段视频一开始是采用了一段前几天从世界卫生组织发出来的正式公告：圣诞老人对新冠病毒免疫，他很好，而且很忙。

Yes it’s that time of the year again. It’s time to revisit the story about Santa Claus and the sleigh-pulling reindeers, especially the one with the LED clown nose, and sleigh-bells and chestnuts roasting on an open fire and all that jazz. 

是的，又到这时候了。又该讲讲圣诞老人和那群拉雪橇的驯鹿，尤其是那只带有 LED 小丑鼻子的，还有响叮当的玲儿和火上烤的栗子什么的...

Shakespeare said, 

“All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players.

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts…”

莎翁曰，

“世界是个舞台，

所有男女只是演员。

他们有该上场下场的时候，

一个人需要扮演很多角色…'

For me, Christmas is the best example of this: When you think about it, this whole Christmas thing is really just like a big global interactive immersive play; there’s a basic plot that we all kinda know and follow and we play our part to create the illusion of a world where Santa Claus comes to deliver a present! Of course, our audience is comprised of all the kids in the world who are still innocent enough to believe in such a fairytale. 

我觉得圣诞节就是以上比喻的典范：你想，整个圣诞节其实就是个全球性的互动沉浸式话剧；有个基本剧本我们都需要知道并且按剧情上演，我们各自扮演自己的角色营造一个有圣诞老人来送礼物的魔幻世界！当然，我们的观众就是世界上所有的孩子们，因为他们还保持着天真，还相信童话。

It’s like this big practical joke we pull on our youngsters, just because they can’t read yet and rely on us to get all their information about how this world works… and we use this time-honoured tradition to deceive them, fooling them, betraying their trust.

这好比一个我们给孩子们搞的一个善意的国际恶作剧，因为他们还不识字所以必须依靠我们来得到他们对这个世界认知的所有咨询… 而我们一直在用个古老的传统来骗他们，懵他们，背叛他们对我们的信任。

Why do we do this? We may never know the real answer… but in the meantime, enjoy this immersive play, and all the beautiful things it comes with. Have a magical Christmas!

我们为什么要这样？可能我们永远不会知道真正的答案… 但既然如此，还是请大家尽情享受这个沉浸式戏剧吧，和与此有关的所有的美好的东西。希望大家有一个充满魔幻的圣诞节！
