Once upon a farm lived a fat red hen, a duck in a pond and a goose in a pen, a woolly sheep, a hairy hog..
从前有一个农场，那里住着一只肥母鸡，池塘里有只鸭子，一只鹅，一头毛茸茸的羊，一头长毛的猪。
A handsome horse and a dainty dog.
一匹帅气的马，一只小巧的狗。
A cat that miaowed and a cat that purred, a fine prize cow... and a ladybird.
一只喵喵叫的猫，一只咕噜咕噜叫的猫，一头宝贝牛，还有一只小瓢虫。
And the cow said, “MOO”, and the hen said “CLUCK!”,“HISS!” said the goose and “QUACK”said the duck.
牛说 MOO，母鸡说 CLUCK，鹅说 HISS，鸭子说QUACK。
‘NEIGH!’ said the horse. “OINK!” said the hog. “BAA!” said the sheep and “WOOF!” said the dog.
马说 NEIGH，猪说 OINK，羊说 BAA，狗说 WOOF。
One cat miaowed whilst the other one purred…
一只猫喵喵叫，一只猫咕噜咕噜叫……
And the ladybird said never a word.
小瓢虫什么也没说。
But the ladybird saw and the ladybird heard.
但是小瓢虫看见了……她听见了……
She saw two men in a big black van, with a map and a key and a cunning plan.
她看见两个坏人坐在大黑车里，拿着地图，想着狡猾的计划。
And she heard them whisper, “This is how we’re going to steal the fine prize cow:
她听见他们轻声说，“我们就这样偷那头宝贝。”
“Open the gate in the dead of night, pass the horse and then turn right. Round the duck pond, past the hog (be careful not to wake the dog).
“晚上打开门，走过马厩然后右转，走过池塘，走过猪圈的时候别弄醒了狗。
Left past the sheep, then straight ahead and in through the door of the prize cow’s shed!”
左转经过羊圈，然后直接到牛舍！”
And the little spotty ladybird (who never before had said a word)
然后小瓢虫，虽然之前从来没说过话，
Told the animals this is how two thieves are planning to steal the cow:
告诉动物们两个贼将怎样来偷牛：
“They’ll open the gate in the dead of night, pass the horse and then turn right. Round the duck pond, past the hog (being careful not to wake the dog).
“他们晚上打开门，走过马厩然后右转，走过池塘，走过猪圈的时候别弄醒了狗。
Left past the sheep, then straight ahead and in through the door of the prize cow’s shed!”

But the ladybird had a good idea and she whispered it into each animal ear.
可是小瓢虫有个妙招，她飞到每个动物的耳朵边上跟他们传授。
At the dead of night the two bad men (Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len)，
夜深人静，两个坏人——胖子休和瘦子Len。
Opened the gate while the farmer slept and tiptoe into the farm they crept.
趁农夫睡着了，蹑手蹑脚来到了农场。
Then the goose said, “NEIGH!” with all her might. And Len said, “That’s the horse — turn right.”
然后鹅大声说NEIGH!Len说“哦，那是马，右转。”
And the dainty dog began to QUACK. “The duck!” said Hugh. “We’re right on track.”
然后娇小的狗开始呱呱呱叫。“鸭子！”休说 “我们走得没错。”
“OINK,” said the cats. “There goes the hog! Be careful not to wake the dog.”
“OINK'猫们说 ”那是猪，别把狗弄醒了。“
“BAA BAA BAA,” said the fat red hen. “The sheep! We’re nearly there,” said Len.
“BAA BAA BAA”肥母鸡说 “羊！我们快到了”Len说。
Then the duck on the pond said, “MOO MOO MOO!”
然后池塘的鸭子说”MOO MOO MOOo！'
“Two more steps to go!” said Hugh.
'再走两步！“休说。
And they both stepped into the duck pond — SPLOSH!
然后两人都踩进了池塘——哗啦哗啦！
And the farmer woke and said, “Golly gosh!” And he called the cops and they came — NEE NAH!
然后农夫醒了，说“天啊！”，他报警了，警察开着警车带走了坏人。
And then the cow said, “MOO”, and the hen said “CLUCK!”,“HISS!” said the goose and “QUACK”said the duck.
牛说 MOO，母鸡说 CLUCK，鹅说 HISS，鸭子说QUACK。
‘NEIGH!’ said the horse. “OINK!” said the hog. “BAA!” said the sheep and “WOOF!” said the dog.

And the farmer cheered, and both cats purred.
