Jia Yaozhen shows the seal of Russia Pavilion on her World Expo Passport in Shanghai, east China, May 2, 2010. Jia Yaozhen is a 17-year old student from Haizhou High School in Lianyungang City, east China's Jiangsu Province. “China and Russia are close neighbours,” Jia Yaozhen said, “I intended to see what kind of advanced technology our neighbour owns”. However, when she arrived at the pavilion, she was totally attracted by the models of future cities which were designed on the basis of Russian children’s imagination. “Russian children do have fertile imagination which we’re lack of. We should learn from them, ” Jia Yaozhen emphasized, “Innovation can create better future while imagination is the fundamental ability to innovate”. Russia Pavilion has been designed as an ideal city resembling cities in the fairyland, which give people the impression of a children’s paradise. It features 12 irregularly shaped towers in white, red and gold. A 15-meter-tall central building dubbed the “Civilian Cube” links the towers. Following the conception of Nikolay Nosov, a famous Soviet writer of children’s literature, the pavilion are abundant with unique designs showing a flair for colors and fantasies. Traveling along the path, visitors will feel as if in a fairy-tale palace full of imagination. (Xinhua/Ren Long)
