Xu Quanyou, a taxi driver in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, now feels safer at work.
"The public order is much better now. I can take passengers for a long trip even if it's midnight," he said.
Xu attributed the safer environment to the reforms put in place by the local police system in the past year.
Chongqing's public security bureau introduced a new service in 2009 that incorporated multiple functions, such as traffic control, criminal law enforcement, public security administration and public service, into the same police force.
The reform brought about many changes.
