讲座内容简介 Abstract:
Data is everywhere —— we generate it, process it, and analyse it. Design Informatics is the art and science of designing with data.
Design focuses on creating products and services. It thus goes well beyond creating an app or a piece of code; instead, we need to understand the context (time, space, people, society, economy) in which a product is used.
Design embraces complexity and is thus a great tool for addressing 'wicked problems'—— problems that are ill-defined and constantly changing.
In this talk, I will introduce two key approaches to Design Informatics as it is practiced at the Centre for Design Informatics at the University of Edinburgh —— human data interaction, and designing for, with and by data.
