大多数人在阅读过程中很少考虑逻辑关系词的作用，导致在阅读过程中对文章的理解效率比较低。实际上，英文学术文章中有很多逻辑关系词，这些关系词对我们的文章理解有着直接或间接的帮助作用。阅读中常见的逻辑关系有并列关系、递进关系、转折关系、让步关系、比较关系、因果关系等。
从语言学角度来讲，英语属于形合语言，逻辑关系词的主要在于让句子成分之间、句子与句子之间、以及段落与段落之间实现自然衔接。
若用一词概括，即为起承转合，“起”是起因,文章的开头；“承”是事件的过程；“转”是结果是转折；“合”是对该事件的议论,是结尾。 而逻辑连词正是文章的扭结。理顺连词打通扭结，你会发现英语学起来，痛快多了。
