20世纪60年代，迷人的六十年代，在人们的记忆中，是一个社会大变革的时代。青年人们开始奉行一套与其父辈截然不同的价值观，那一时期的音乐和服装也展现出这一时代年轻人新的思想方式，因此人们有时会称这个时期为“时髦放纵的六十年代”。拉尔富·麦可泰尔( Ralph McTell），英国歌手、作曲人、纯吉他音乐弹奏手。在英国六十年代民歌乐坛占有举足轻重的地位。

1969年，他在第二张个人专辑《Spiral Staircase》发表了自己谱写的“Streets of London”（伦敦街道），不过当时并未受到重视，当时年轻的Ralph周游欧洲，寻找创造灵感。有一阵子在伦敦，Ralph每天去压马路，看大街上形形色色的人，心里忽然很感慨。开心、疲惫、痛苦、无聊，世间的、人生的一些常态的情感，于是写就这首 《Streets of London 》。开始觉得歌曲太过悲伤，不适合发行，但制作人Gus Dudgeon听后大为感动，鼓励他一定要唱出来。没想到歌曲推出后一发不可收拾，一个月时间平均每天卖出9万张CD，就是因为这首 《Streets of London 》 。这首歌也成为了他经典的成名曲。

蛋评： 词曲都非常优美，轻描淡写，娓娓道来，不加矫饰。这首歌喜欢已久，也曾在某个消沉的下午初次听到后大受鼓舞。写之前想到这个题材很激动，把喜欢且质优的东西推荐给朋友是件非常开心的事情。然而真正落笔却说不出的艰难，资料越查越多却愈发焦虑、愈发觉得难以驾驭。为什么？情绪是种很私人的东西，生怕表述不当破坏旁人对这首歌曲的印象。话不多言，希望你能听出属于自己的独家体验。
