    “祈使句 ＋ and 分句”是一个特殊句型，常用于口语，表示建议、告诫、鼓励

等意味。祈使句部分相当于if 引导的条件状语从句，而and分句相当于主句。

 

例如：

     If you do it again, I’ll call the policeman.     如果你再这么干，我要报警了。

   此句可以改成：

      Do it again and I’ll call the policeman.

 

 

   例句：

 

      1）Give him an inch and he will take a mile.    

             If you give him an inch, he will takie a mile.

  得寸进尺。

      2）Work harder and you'll make more progress.  

             If you work harder, you’ll make more progress.

  学习再刻苦点，你就会进步更快。

  3）Follow the doctor’s advice, and you’ll be well very soon. 

        If you follow the doctor’s advice, you’ll be well very soon.

  听从医生的医嘱，你很快就会好起来的

  4) Try and calm yourself, and your mind will be easy.   

  尽力让你冷静下来，你的心就会平静些。

  5) Take the following steps when reading and you will be a good fast reader.      

  按下列步骤阅读，你会成为一个阅读速度快的好读者。

 

 

   ●  祈使句部分有时还可以改用名词短语，即改成：“名词短语 ＋ and 分句”。

            名词短语中通常含有more, another, further, earlier等词。

 

  例如：Make one more effort, and you will succeed in your experiment.

            One more effort, and you will succeed in your experiment.

 如果你再努力一下，你试验就会成功。

   

 

   例句：

 

   1）One more hour, andI’ll get the work finished.   

      Give me one more hour, and I’ll get the work finished.

 再有一小时，我就可以干完了。

2）A bit more effort, and the problem would be straightened out.     

 再稍加把劲，这个问题就解决了。

3) Ten minutes earlier, and we could have caught the train already, but now we’ll

      have to wait an hour for the next train.     

 早来十分钟,我们就能赶上火车了,但是现在我们不得不等一个小时乘下一趟火车。

 

   ●  英语中有不少用“祈使句 ＋ and 分句”表达的谚语。

 

1）Give him an inch and he will take a mile.    

 得寸进尺。

2）Set a beggar on horseback and he’ll ride to the devil.  

 说到曹操, 曹操就到.

      3）Take care of the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves.    

 积少成多；小事注意，大事自成。

      4）Grasp the nettle and it won’t sting you.  

 你不怕困难，困难就怕你；困难像弹簧，你硬它就软。

      5）Tread on a worm and it will turn.  

            困兽犹斗；狗急跳墙。

6）Ask no questions and you’ll be told no lies.     

 少问就听不到假话。

7）Jest with an ass and he will flap you in the face with his tail.   

 跟愚人开玩笑，只会自讨没趣。

8）Give a fool rope enough ，and he’ll hang himself.    

 放任傻子等于害他。

      9）Set a beggar on horseback and he’ll ride to the devil.. 

 叫化子发财，忘乎所以；小人乍富必有祸。

   10）Keep a thing seven years and you will find a use for it .   

 蓄艾三年，必有其用。
