         我们都知道 sailing 是“航海”的意思，plain 有“平稳的”意思，按字面意思就可猜出

plain sailing 是“一帆风顺”、“一切顺利”的意思。

 

        BBC 给出的解释是： plain sailing is an expression used to describe an activity that goes

well or smoothly and is easy and uncomplicated.

 

        English Club 给出的解释是：If something is plain sailing, it's very easy to do and there

are no roblems to overcome.

              

                                 

 

 例句：

 1）We should always remember that life journey is by no means a plain sailing.

       我们要牢记，人生的旅途并不是一帆风顺的。

2）Once you get this out of the way, the rest is plain sailing.

       一旦你把这件事解决了, 其余的事情就会一帆风顺了。

        3）His political career was not all plain sailing. He was all but murdered when he reached 

             

              the climax of his career.

      他的仕途并非一帆风顺。在到达职业生涯顶峰时，差点被人谋杀。

4）Approval has been obtained, but don't imagine that everything will from now onwards be

●  有时也可说 smooth sailing，不过没有 plain sailing 常用。
