大家好，今天我们要学习的这段文字包含preci，scrib，cept，prehend等词根词缀，相对应的单词也都是非常重点的，一起来看看吧。
我们先看课文，摘自Henry Moore写的The Sculptor Speaks这本书，新概念第四册Lesson 31也摘录过这段文字。
Appreciation of sculpture depends upon the ability to respond to form in three dimensions.
对雕塑的鉴赏力取决于对立体的反应能力。
That is perhaps why sculpture has been described as the most difficult of all arts;
雕塑被说成是所有艺术中最难的艺术，可能就是这个原因。
certainly it is more difficult than the arts which involve appreciation of flat forms, shape in only two dimensions.

Many more people are 'form-blind' than colour-blind.

The child learning to see, first distinguishes only two-dimensional shape;

it cannot judge distances, depths. Later, for its personal safety and practical needs, it has to develop (partly by means of touch) the ability to judge roughly three-dimensonal distances.

But having satisfied the requirements of practical necessity, most people go no further.

they do not make the further intellectual and emotional effort needed to comprehend form in its full spatial existence.

1.appreciation n. 欣赏，鉴别；增值；感谢。
【词根preci/pric】来源于拉丁语pretium，表示price（价格，价值）：
appreciate v.增值；欣赏；（前缀a+词根首字母重复表示含义加强，-ate为动词后缀，示例单词appreciation是appreciate的名词形式）
depreciate v.贬值；轻视；（前缀de-表示否定）
precious a.珍贵的，价值高的；（-ous为形容词后缀）
2.describe v.描述，形容；
【词根scrib/script】来源于拉丁语scribere ，表示write（写）。
prescribe v.开处方；（前缀-pre表示“提前”，提前写好药量→开处方）
inscribe v.雕刻，题写；（前缀-in表示“向里”，向里写→雕刻）
script n. 脚本；手迹；
3.perception n. 知觉；理解；看法；
【词根cept】来自拉丁语capere ，表示take（拿，取）

前缀per（彻底）+cept（拿）+ion（名词后缀）=全部拿下→理解
4.comprehend v.理解
【词根prehend】来自拉丁语hendere，也表示take（抓，拿）
com（全部）+prehend（抓住）=全部抓住→理解；
comprehensive a.综合的，广泛的；
comprehension n.理解；U君相信大家应该都熟悉这个单词，比如我们在参加英语考试时都会碰到reading comprehension（阅读理解）和listening comprehension（听力理解）。
apprehend vt. 理解；逮捕；
