西单更新场是城市广场与地下商业空间结合的更新改造项目，是城市更新复杂矛盾下的一个小型项目实践。该项目采取非商业建筑的设计方法，聚焦公共场所营造，通过打破地面的物理及概念界限，将公共领域与商业空间融为一体。隐身景观的设计借鉴了中国古典文化和场地历史的隐喻，形成兼具独特美感与文脉关联的再生城市景观。
The New is a regeneration of an urban plaza and an underground commercial space, a small project of larger issues in urban renewal. With an institutional approach to commercial architecture that focuses on public place-making, the design reunites once divided urban and commercial spaces by breaking physical and conceptual demarcation of the ground and merging public realm with commercial spaces. Nested in lush landscape, the hidden destination carries metaphoric references to Chinese ideas and the site's history to ensure that the resurrected place is aesthetically distinctive and contextually adaptive.
