据报道，美国诗人和社会活动家杰克·赫希曼(Jack Hirschman) 于2021年8月22日(周日)在旧金山的家中去世，享年87岁。作为杰出的诗人和社会活动家，他的第一本诗集《美国人的通信》于1960年出版。他是兴起于上个世纪六十年代以反对越南战争的学者为中心的“垮掉的一代”的一员，其诗作呈现出强烈的反战和左翼色彩。他是世界诗歌运动组织的创始人和核心成员之一，同时还是旧金山革命诗人旅的先驱和负责人，还担任过美国左翼文学杂志《左曲线》的编辑、《人民论坛报》的记者，曾被授予“旧金山桂冠诗人”的称号。二十多年来，他一直坚持诗歌要走入更广阔的社会和大众生活，坚持在旧金山的街道和咖啡馆诵读自己的诗歌。他的主要作品是《美国人的通信》（1960年），《黑阿》（1969年），《Lyripol》（1976年）,《底线》（1988年）和《无尽的阈值》（1992年）等，另外在他出版的一百多部诗集中，还包括产生了广泛影响的《倾倒》（Kallatumba，1985）《前线》（Front Lines，2002）《神秘》（Mystery，2006）《遗留的一切》（All That’s Left ，2008）等作品，这些作品均由另一位“嚎叫派”的代表人物劳伦斯·费林盖蒂（Lawrence Ferlinghetti，1919-）创办的城市之光出版社出版，城市之光出版社是该文学群落的大本营，其代表人物杰克·凯鲁亚克、艾伦·金斯堡、劳伦斯·费林盖蒂、施耐德以及杰克·赫希曼等都是从这里扬名世界。杰克·赫希曼的作品被翻译成世界上主要的语言。
据悉，赫希曼是在作为世界诗歌运动协调人的最后一次在线会议即将开始前去世的。他的逝世无疑是当代国际诗坛和世界诗歌运动的一大损失。1954年，赫希曼与鲁丝·爱普斯坦(Ruth Epstein)结婚，育有两子。多年之后，他于1999年6月与瑞典诗人、作家、艺术家阿格内塔·福尔克(Agneta Falk)结婚。
杰克·赫希曼对社会主义中国怀有深厚的感情，曾多次以诗人的身份访问中国，并留下了许多记录中国观感的美好诗文。

Dear Comrades of the WPM,
I am writing this as most of you at the WPM meeting last Sunday saw me accept the position as coordinator of the central body of
the WPM that for a decade has been held by Fernando with the help of Gloria. With all the work they do, not simply for the WPM but
for the Medellin annual festival readings, I thought my acceptance would relieve them of what is an overwhelming cultural burden.
But I very soon realized that my acceptance was a sort of self-indulgence. For example, I do not use Facebook, Twitter or any of the
means of techno-communication. And I have no intention of using them. And I realized that they. are important means of organizing
WPM events. Please understand that my position against Facebook, etc. is because I find them personally superfluous to my needs
as a poet and as an organizer of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade, which simply an email address can fulfill.
But there is another dimension to this: you all are organizers of International Poetry Festivals in your countries. As an emeritus Poet
Laureate of the City of San Francisco (2006-2009) I was able to organize International Poetry Festivals sponsored by the Friends of
the San Francisco Public Library, a cultural organization led by the bravest woman I've met in a generation, one Donna Bero, who
allowed me to organize three International Poetry Festivals between 2007 and 2012, in which poets from all over the world were
flown to San Francisco and returned to their homes and received honorariums of $500 each. In 2013 Donna was removed and for
the last 8 years there has been no International Poetry Festival in San Francisco. As Internationalists, Agneta Falk and I have
enjoyed being with you all in China and Greece and partaking of the International Festivals there and in Medellin. But in fact I have
not organized such a festival in 7 years. Ironically, with the death last m
