孩子读故事，往往被有趣的细节所吸引，忽略了故事所要表达的主旨。虽然阅读需要趣味，但是在享受趣味之余，还需要训练孩子归纳文章主旨大意的能力。
主旨，就是作者最想要表达的东西。细节，乃为主旨而存在。

一、让孩子阅读下面的故事。
The Story of Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was born in Alabama, in the southern part of theUnited States. She was born in 1913. At the time, there were many unfair laws that made life hard for African Americans. One law said that they could ride only in the back of a bus, not the front.
Rosa Parks believed that all people should be equal. Rosa Parks did not want to have to sit in the back of the bus just because she was African American. So one day in 1955, she sat in the front of the bus. The bus driver asked her to give up her seat, but she didnot. She believed that the color of her skin should not matter.
Soon, many people of all colors refused to take the bus. The bus had to change its rules. This was the beginning of many changes. The Civil Rights Movement worked to make all people equal. Rosa Parks is a civil rights hero.

① 作者写第一段，想说的就是：Rosa Parks 所生活的年代，黑人遭遇不公平的对待。
② 作者写第二段，想说的就是：在 Rosa Parks 看来，人与人之间，应该是平等的。
