悼念保罗·艾伦(Paul G. Allen)

随着微软联合创始人保罗·艾伦因病去世的消息在朋友圈传播,一代科技圈的伟人又走了一个。
保罗·艾伦终年65岁。
艾伦死于与非霍奇金淋巴瘤相关的并发症,这是他在2009第一次被诊断出的癌症。艾伦在本月早些时候透露,在一段时间的缓解后,他已经回来了。遗憾的是,艾伦最终还是走了。
在2018年的《福布斯》亿万富豪榜上,艾伦位居第44位,个人资产预计为205亿美元。
艾伦的好奇心,促使他离开微软之后在其它领域神奇地探索。
2003年,保罗·艾伦的一艘名为“章鱼”的游艇建成下水,这艘船长度为126米,是当时最大的游艇。
2011年,他宣布创立Stratolaunch系统,这是一种新型的航天器推进工程,利用一架超大型双体、六引擎的飞机,将火箭运载至高空,随后火箭从机身分离并完成向太空轨道的推进。
当然,在投资慈善领域也作出了应有的贡献。
保罗·艾伦用自己的财富注资成立了Vulcan资本公司,用于打理其个人投资业务。在他生前,已经在科学、技术、教育、野生动物保护、艺术、医疗卫生、社区服务等领域总共捐助了超过20亿美元。
