Sadhguru: Once you let your past decide how you experience the present, you have destroyed your future. Because what you call as past, is accumulated memory. What you call as future, is a way of manifesting what you imagine or what you want or what you desire. Once you allow the memory to corrupt the experience of the present, instead of enriching your life with present experience, you replay the past and cloud the present. Then naturally, your imagination and your ability to manifest the future is also corrupted. We need to understand, in the psychological space, there is only memory and imagination. The mechanics of your psychology functions between these two.

Sadhguru(萨古鲁):一旦你让你的过去决定你如何体验当下,你就已经毁了你的未来。因为你所说的过去,是累积的记忆。你所谓的未来,是一种显化你想象的、你想要的或你渴望的东西的方式。一旦你允许记忆腐蚀当下的体验,而不是用当下的体验来丰富你的生命,你重演了过去,并遮蔽了当下,那么自然而然地,你的想象和显化未来的能力也就被腐蚀了。我们要明白,在心理空间里,只有记忆和想象。你的心理机制运作在这两者之间。

Existentially, only the experience of the present moment is – there is nothing else. But if you do not handle the psychological and existential separately, or your inability to handle the psychological and existential separately, is because necessary sadhana, to bring a distinct difference between what is memory and what is imagination has not happened. Your past and future are mixed up, so present is clouded.

在存在的层面,只是当下的体验——没有别的。但如果你不把心理上的和存在上的分开,或你没有能力分开心理上的和存在上的,是因为你还没有通过必要的瑜伽练习,在记忆和想象之间带来一个清晰的区分。你的过去和未来被混在了一起,所以当下被遮蔽了。

Naturally the question arises, how do I do this? How do I separate my memory and my imagination? Just answer this question to yourself, does your body have imagination? No. Your body is just a body of memory, evolutionary memory, genetic memory, karmic memory, conscious, unconscious, articulate, inarticulate various types of memory. Our body is a manifestation of your memory. What has happened a million years ago, still your body remembers. what kind of skin your forefathers had, still your body remembers (Laughs), what kind of nose your great-grandfather or mother had, it still sits on your face.

自然而然地,问题就来了,我该怎么做呢?我如何把我的记忆和我的想象分开?只要回答你自己这个问题:你的身体有想象吗?没有。你的身体只是一个记忆体:进化的记忆、遗传的记忆、业的记忆、有意识的、无意识的、说得清的、说不清的,各种类型的记忆。你的身体是记忆的显化。一百万年前发生的事情,你的身体仍然记得。你的祖先有什么样的皮肤,你的身体仍然记得(笑)。你的曾祖父或曾祖母有什么样的鼻子,它仍然在你的脸上。

So, your body is just a product of memory, but it has no imagination. Imagination is the realm of the psychological space. There is no problem in your mind to imagine whatever you want. But right now, because you do not know the distinction between body and mind, physiological and psychological process, hence, the existential and psychological also has gotten mixed up.

所以,你的身体只是记忆的产物。但它没有想象。想象是心理空间范畴的。在你的头脑中想象任何你想要的东西都没有问题。但是现在,因为你不知道身体与头脑的区别,生理过程和心理过程的区别,因此,存在上的和心理上的也被混在一起了。

There are simple meditative processes with which you can bring about a clear distinction between what is body, what is mind or in other terms, what is memory and what is imagination. In doing this, the present moment will genuinely become available for your experience. Not by chanting 'Live in the moment' will you get there, but only when you have a clear defined experience of what is memory, and what is imagination, will the present moment or the very life process and the whole existence becomes available to you, because yourself and the creation is available to you only in this moment. This moment is all there is. But the whole creation –everything, all life that's throbbing right now, animate and inanimate – is happening in this moment. If you are not able to experience this moment, it's not just that you're missing your happiness or peace; you're missing the entirety of life process.

有一些简单的冥想过程可以让你清晰地区分什么是身体和什么是头脑,换句话说,什么是记忆,什么是想象。这样做时,你将真正地体验当下。不是靠唱诵“活在当下”你就能做到,而是只有当你对什么是记忆、什么是想象有了清晰界分的体验时,当下或这个生命进程和整个存在才会对你敞开,因为你只能在这一刻触及你自己和这创造。这一刻就是全部。但整个创造——所有的东西,所有在这一刻跳动着的生命,有生命的和无生命的——都在这一刻发生着。如果你不能体验这一刻,这不仅仅是你在错过你的快乐或平和,你错过的是生命的全部进程。

So, it's very important that we must develop the inner discipline, necessary process of yoga within yourself to clearly distinguish between what is memory, what is present experience, and what is imagination.
