Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
该习语表达的就是其字面的意思“the perception of beauty is subjective - what one person finds beautiful another may not”,即“对美的感知是主观的——一个人认为美的东西可能,另一个人不一定这么认为”,相当于汉语里的“情人眼里出西施”。
I don't understand how he can think she is good-looking, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But for one man from northern China, this was not the case.
One of the central questions in aesthetics is whether beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or whether there is something within an object itself which makes it beautiful.
"Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean, Needs not the painted flourish of your praise: Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye, Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues."
Beauty, like supreme dominion
Is but supported by opinion.
