酒与诗的关系由来已久，常常以其中一种关系助长另一种关系而存在。葡萄酒自古以来就是诗人的心目中的缪斯女神，许多文人会写一首颂歌葡萄酒的诗，从英国浪漫主义诗人珀西·比希·雪莱(Percy B.Shelley Rhapsodisis)赞美葡萄酒：“散发着炙热希望的火种”，智利诗人巴勃罗·涅鲁(Pablo Neruda)，把葡萄酒描述为“流淌着紫色或黄色血液的大地的孩子，如大地上的星辰般闪耀”。
