After enduring a siege, the British sued to surrender and the British government realized they could no longer win a war against the combined might of France, Spain, the Netherlands and the US. Peace negotiations to end the Revolutionary War began.Though an alliance was created three years before, coordinating American and French forces was a tedious and often unsuccessful venture. Yorktown was a remarkable success not only because it worked but because the coordination was done over thousands of miles with hundred of components.
