The first solo performance of my life has come to an end at the age of 31. Right from the planning stages of this concert, I wanted to create a harmonica music event that was distinct from the ordinary. Rather than making harmonica playing the sole focus, I aimed to engage with the audience about the people, experiences, and reasons or thoughts that have kept me in the harmonica community all these years. Throughout the concert, besides dedicating a significant amount of time to storytelling, I also selected several songs representing various periods to share with the audience. These pieces were chosen not for their complexity but for the special place they hold in my heart and the lasting impressions they've left on me. Fortunately, this year provided the opportunity to attempt such an endeavor, marking my first time, and it's likely not to be the last. The preparation process was somewhat intricate. It involved recording accompaniment music for the performance, remixing the tracks, and delving into the vast sea of images to find memorable visuals and memories from these past years. Searching through the photos felt like retracing my steps over the past two decades, allowing me to evaluate whether my choices and endeavors from these years have borne fruit. I want to express my gratitude to the Hemingway Harmonica Ensemble and "An Afternoon with Harmonica" for their meticulous organization of the concert. Arranging a concert within a short timeframe is undeniably complex, especially considering the recent hosting of the Taiwan Harmonica Music Competition, performances at the Seoul Harmonica Festival in Korea, and the continuous commitments at the Huaxia Harmonica Festival. It led many harmonica teachers and students to be on the go, and a considerable amount of preparation time was dedicated to these events. After the concert, I would like to ask all of you: Twenty years from now, will the things you are passionate about still be bound to your side?
