Celebrated annually on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival is also known as Duanwu Festival. It commemorates Chinese poet and patriot Quan Yuan (340-278BC). He drowned himself before his state fell in the hand of the enemy. 

端午节又叫龙舟节，在每年阴历的五月五日。它是为了纪念爱国主义诗人屈原而设立的，屈原在亡国之前，投河自尽，用这种行为表达自己的爱国之情。

Many customs and activities are held during the festival. The most popular ones are eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine, and racing dragon boats. In some regions in China, people also wear a perfume pouch, tie five-color silk threads, around their necks, wrists and ankles and hang mugwort leaves or calamus on their doors.

端午节期间，有很多风俗活动；最受人们欢迎的就是吃粽子，喝雄黄酒和赛龙舟。在中国的一些地区，人们还随身携带香囊，在脖子，手腕和脚踝上系五彩丝绳，以及在门上悬挂艾草叶和菖蒲枝。
