在我国吉林、辽宁，陕西，湖北等地有分布有柞木，与橡木同科，质地相近，在英文中一般与橡木一起称为oak。

中国吉林、辽宁曾经有较大产量，湖北神农架及陕西亦有少量柞木出产，不过国内出产柞木材径较短小，加之国内未形成专业化生产，不是理想的家具用材。目前资源有限，由于森林保护措施，中国出产已经很少。

橡木家具的特性：
优点：
1） 具有比较鲜明的山形木纹，并且触摸表面有着良好的质感；

2） 质地坚实，制成品结构牢固，使用年限长；

3） 档次较高，适合制作欧式家具

缺点：
1）优质树种比较少，目前大多进口自俄罗斯及美国，也有部分从土耳其、奥地利、德国及加拿大进口。欧洲美洲其它也有很多地区出产，不过进口量极少；

2）通常进口橡木板材在国外已经经过严格的烘干处理，具有很好的稳定性。也有些厂家直接从国外进口原木，自己剖切烘干。目前国内很多橡木家具的专业厂商制造的橡木家具稳定性都很高。不过由于橡木质地硬沉，水份脱净比较难，未脱净水制作的家具，过一年半载可能会开始变形或收缩开裂。
