用英语学英语，学英语时“用”英语：Taking a message

可能大家都没有注意到：我们学习英语时有两个方面的语言能力需要我们去训练和提高：你要学会这句英语，或者这段英语；你要用中文，或者用英语去学会这句英语或这段英语。

这就是“用”中文，还是“用”英语学英语问题。

中文是我们的母语，本来就会，可以说是不存在什么需要训练和提高问题的。因此，既要学某句英语，又要“会用”英语学才是真正需要训练和提高的能力。

可是，我们多数人在“学”某句英语时却依然是在“用”中文来学习之的，而不是在“用”英语，也就是所谓的“用”中文学英语。这也是导致我们多年英语学习低效率的重要原因：这句英语你算是“学会”了，但是，你“用”英语的能力却没有得到任何训练，更谈不上提高。

所以，我们必须训练自己在“学”英语时“用”英语，让自己既学到了某句英语，又“使用”了英语。这才符合英语“学以致用”，“学为了用”基本原则。

什么叫做用英语学英语，既学英语时“用”英语？怎么才能这样“学”，这样“用”呢？

我们看一个简单英语：Taking a message at Hotel Front Desk

Front desk: Good morning,sir.Can I help you?

Guest: Yes,I'd like to leave a message. I'm expecting a friend to arrive soon but I have 

  to step out.Could you ask him to wait for me and call me?

Front desk: Yes,of course.May I have your name and your telephone number,please?

Guest: My name is Scot and my number is 865743268

Front desk: We'll give the message as soon as he arrives.

Guest:Thank you,sir.

Front desk: My pleasure.

以上就是我们要训练和提高的第一个方面的能力：会用会说并记住英语酒店留言。

如果我们是用翻译成中文的方式学习这些英语，同时又以“说”中文，“用”中文的方式“学会它，记住它，会用它”，你在“学、记、用”这些英语的同时是“没有用”，也“没有说”英语的！

我们需要训练的第二个“能力”，就是在学习这些“情景主题类”英语的同时，我们还在“用”英语和“说”英语，即：

1) Good morning,sir.Can I help you？

“说”英语：

1.Okay.I got you.I know what to say now,if I am a receptionist at Front Desk.

2.When I see a guest coming up to me=approaching me(a big word),I'll say Good morning,Good afternoon,Good evening,sir,or ma'am.Can I help you?

3.When I say Can I help you,I can also say May I help you?How may I help you? What can I do for you?

这就是我们在“学”酒店英语Good mood morning,sir.Can I help you时，还能够“说”、“用”上面的这些英语：这就是“用”英语“学”英语，严格来说是“学”英语时“用”英语。

这才是最能挑战自己英语水平，但也是最能训练提高自己英语水平的学习方式。

换言之，学习英语时的“学习语言”也必须是英语的。

你做到了吗？

估计没有：你都是在“用”中文：Good mood morning,sir.Can I help you是“早上好，先生，有什么可以帮忙的吗”来理解和学习这句英语的。

这正是你英语学习多年却依然没进步的原因：你的英语永远都是“只学不用”，永远都是“学而不用”。

我们学习英语不仅仅是要用中文“学会记住”这句要学的英语，也就是“说中文学英语”，更是为了通过学这句英语给自己“说英语用英语”的机会和锻炼，也就是“用”英语“学”英语，或者说“学”英语时“说”英语，“用”英语。

2) Yes,I'd like to leave a message.

1.Okay.I got you.If people say Can I help you,I'll say Yes,or No.Thanks.

2.Okay.I got you.When we ask someone for help and to tell someone else something,we can say Can I leave a message,or will you take a message for me?

你能把“说”中文学英语leave a message即“留言”变成“说”上面的英语吗？这才是你最需要训练的能力。不严加训练，我们根本不能做到“说”这样的英语。

3) I'm expecting a friend to arrive soon but I have to step out.Could you ask him to wait for me and call me?

1.Okay.I got you.I'm expecting a friend means I'm waiting for a friend.But saying expect someone is better than saying wait for someone.So I won't say I'm waiting for you again next time,I'll say I'm expecting you.

这就是“学”英语expect someone时，“说”英语，“不说”中文。

2.Okay.I got you.I have to step out means I have to go out,but it's better than saying go out.

3. Okay.Could you ask him to wait for me and call me means Leave a message.

我们不是把英语Could you ask him to wait for me and call me “说”成中文，或者翻译成中文：让他等我并给我电话，而是“说”成英语means Leave a message，就叫把英语学成英语。

4) Yes,of course.May I have your name and your phone number,please?

Okay.I got you.If someone asks me to take a message,or asks to leave a message,I'll say something like Yes,May I have your name and your phone number,please?

5) Okay.I got you.When people say Thank you to me,I'll say My pleasure,meani.g You're welcome.

这就起我们全程“学”(某句)英语时“说”英语(学之)的全称演示：既学会一句英语，又训练了我们“说”英语的能力。

而我们所面临的“双重”挑战就是，既不会说不会用不会记正在学的英语，也不会用英语说英语去学这些英语。而我们之所以学英语不正是为了攻克这“双重”挑战吗？我们怎么能“用说中文”回避其中一个挑战呢？
