THE OLD TREE

A big tree.

No,the big tree.

There it stood,and still it stands there.

In silence, it talks a lot.

It evokes the memory, which becomes clearer and clearer.

This was what happened when my wife, before the operation of 

total hysterectomy, went back to her mother school Gansu Traditional Medicine College in Lanzhou to take a look at it in a sense of nostalgia. She told me which building was for experiment, which building for teaching and which building for boarding. As a matter of fact, these buildings are not what they used to be, except that they are still at the place where they were.

Only the tree, the old tree has not changed. FOR almost thirty years, it is still there without change, shedding shadow as it did thirty years ago.

Confucius,  standing on the bank of a river, remarked: time vanishes like this, flying.

The big tree is as green as thirty years ago and shadows the school campus as it used to. But she is old now. This is life. How many thirty years are there in life. Few.

Few. Looking back, we may understand under sudden enlightenment that life is too short. Most of us even can't live up to three thirty years.In the blink of an eye, 1.5+ thirty years has passed.Can you live for another 1.5+ thirty years ? Only Heaven knows.

The tree is a wise man. who tells you a lot by keeping silent.He changes at any moment by keeping unchanged. This may be the true meaning of life.
