我为什么劝你选择盐城工学院

我是盐城工学院的一名英语教师，每天都要做备课、上课、改作业、写论文这样的事情。我在业余时间还有一个身份——写手——给报刊杂志写稿，既搞创作也搞翻译，内容什么都有，从心灵鸡汤到玄奇科幻，从童话故事到哲学思辨，在文字中逍遥，介于现实与虚幻之间，不与他人争高低。
我有一位文友，也是一位大学老师，由于喜欢写些闲文碎语，被领导斥责为不务正业，之后他就非论文不写，但最终不知怎么并没有见其在科研上有所发展。相比之下，我就幸运多了，我们学校历任领导对我做“文学青年”表示出宽容，甚至鼓励，不时还夸夸我，这样的结果就是我不但“副业”上成绩不断，而且“正业”也说得过去，拿了国家社科基金项目，也上线了国家精品视频公开课，还居然当上了外国语学院的院长。我这样说的意思是，如果你成了盐城工学院的学生，在这个具有兼收并蓄胸怀的学校，四年之后你可能既谈了恋爱，又学了街舞，还创业挣了钱，唱歌唱到了维也纳金色大厅，最后还能考上了名牌大学的研究生，一样也不会耽误！
我还想请你了解一下盐城工学院近几任的主要校领导。姚冠新，教授、博士生导师，从江苏大学党委副书记、副校长的岗位上调任盐城工学院党委书记，现任扬州大学党委书记。葛世伦，教授、博士生导师、全国“五一”劳动奖章获得者，曾任江苏科技大学党委副书记、副校长，现任盐城工学院党委书记。叶美兰，教授、博士生导师，曾任南京邮电大学副校长，现任盐城工学院院长。我介绍这三位领导主要是想引你回想一个人物，这个人物就是金庸武侠小说《射雕英雄传》中的男主角郭靖。你不认为盐城工学院与这位郭大侠有点儿像吗？郭靖天赋不高，但获几位师傅真传，最后融合“九阴真经”、“降龙十八掌”和“左右互搏”三大武功为一体，练成盖世奇功，成为“天下第一侠士”。盐城工学院地处经济欠发达的苏北，在地理位置上没有优势，但几位领导带来了江苏大学、江苏科技大学、南京邮电大学等高校的理念与经验，必然会使盐城工学院进入“侠之大者”的新境界。事实上，盐城工学院“苏北小清华”和盐工毕业生“优质盐粒子”的美誉已经不胫而走！
如果进一步了解盐城工学院，我确信你会爱上她。这不仅是因为她坐落于生态宜居的国家园林城市，有着遍布全国的招生规模、先进完善的办学条件、实力雄厚的师资队伍、特色鲜明的学科专业、多措并举的奖助措施、丰富多彩的校园文化、前程无忧的考研就业，更因为她正朝着建设特色鲜明的高水平应用型大学的目标迈进！
我住在盐城工学院“人才公寓”小区，这个小区就在校园内，是学校分配给教授和博士们住的。由于有了这个小区，校园里在课余和周末就多了师生交谈的身影，晚上散步时你或许就能碰到土木工程专家荀勇教授、材料工程专家吴其胜教授、著名画家杨建生教授……你还会见到大声说英语的同学，当然，同学中干什么的都有，跑步的、打球的、在教室自修的，我强调说英语的同学，是因为我忍不住想告诉你，盐城工学院的英语教学水平很不错哦，比如2015年春学期盐城工学院大学英语四六级成绩总均分位列全国第134位，全省第12位，全国以“工学院”命名的高校中排名第一！
前不久，我参加了盐城工学院2016届学生毕业典礼，当学生家长代表陈金红女士登台发言时，我有点情不自禁，因为这个学生家长不就是我们外国语学院1992届毕业生吗？我想，一个学校还有什么比看到她培养的学生又把自己的儿女送到母校更感到自豪的事情呢？我和陈金红女士一样对盐城工学院的学习氛围充满了信任。我的儿子在南京的一所大学毕业后未能考上研究生，我就让他到盐城工学院的图书馆复习备考，一年后他不仅考上了研究生，而且还与一位大四女生谈上了恋爱，这位女生也一样考上了研究生！
我劝你选择盐城工学院，并没有排斥别的二本院校的意思，我只是想告诉你，盐城工学院一定是一个不错的选择。其实，你看到我写这篇文章就足以说明这个学校值得你选择了，因为并不是每个大学都有一位像我这样专门撰文不遗余力地夸自己学校的老师！

Why I Advise You to Choose YCIT
I am an English teacher of Yancheng Institute of Technology (YCIT). Every day I spend a lot of time on something like preparing my class, giving lessons to my students, correcting my students’work and writing my papers. In my spare time, I have another identity---a writer. I often contribute to newspaper and magazines, both original works and translations, including Chicken Soup stories, mysterious science fictions, fairy tales and philosophical essays. I feel relaxed in my world of words, enjoying sightseeing between reality and fantasy, instead of competing with others.
I have a literary friend who is also a university teacher. Because he liked to write something emotional, his leaders accused him of having neglected his work. Now he only writes something academic, but makes not much progress in scientific research. I am lucky by comparison to him. Our leaders always treat me with generosity and sometimes they even praise me for my love of writing. As a result, I am doing well not only in my avocation, but also in my vocation. Firstly, I received a National Social Science Fund project. Secondly, I had a course selected as a National High-quality Video Open Course. Lastly but not least, I am the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages.What I mean is that if you become a student of YCIT, your college life will lie in love, in hip-hop music, in business, in singing even in the Golden Concert Hall, in your studies for being a graduate student of some top university. Everything goes as you wish.
I would like to tell you about the recent Presidents of YCIT. Firstly, Yao Guanxin, who served successively as Vice President of Jiangsu University as well as Party Secretary of CPC of YCIT, is Party Secretary of CPC of Yangzhou University. Secondly, Ge Shilun, former Vice President of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, is Party Secretary of the CPC of YCIT. Thirdly, Ye Meilan, former Vice President of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, is President of YCIT. The main reason why I told you about the three leaders was to remind you of Guo Jing who is the hero of Jin Yong’s martial arts novel The Legend of the Condor Heroes. Do you think YCIT is a bit like him? Guo Jing’s talent is not outstanding, however he takes after several masters by mixing up the three feats of “Nine Woman’s Power”, “Eighteen Beating Dragon Palms” and “Shoot and Catch” to become “the best warrior in the world”. YCIT,located in the economically underdeveloped Northern Jiangsu, shows no advantages in geography, but these leaders bring with them ideas and experiences of Jiangsu University, Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and so on, which must push YCIT into a new realm. Actually, YCIT has been long known as “Small Tsinghua University in North Jiangsu”, and her graduates also get a reputation of “High Quality Salt Particles”.
If you learn more about YCIT, I am sure you will love her. Not simply because she is in a Ecological Livable and National Garden city, but because she is an application-oriented university of the enrollment scale all over the country, top facilities, strong faculty team, distinctive disciplines and specialties, grant stewardship, colorful campus culture and access to job and post graduate opportunities.
I have an apartment on campus where I live with neighbors who are Professors and Lecturers who have Doctorates. Because of this housing estate, you can naturally see teachers and students who are exchanging ideas and opinions even on weekends. Walking in the evening, maybe you will meet Professor Xun Yong, an expert of civil engineering, Professor Wu Qisheng, an expert of material engineering, Professor Yang Jiansheng, a famous painter...You will come across students who speak English loudly. Of course, there are many other students who are doing different things, such as running, playing outside and studying in the classroom. I emphasize the students who speak English because I can’t help telling you YCIT has a good level of English teaching. For example, in the spring semester of 2015, the total average score of College English Test Band Four and Six ranked 134th in the whole country, 12th in the province and the first in all the institutes of technology!
Not long ago, I attended the graduation ceremony of the year 2016. I couldn’t help myself when a lady named Chen Jinhong was making a speech on behalf of the students’ parents. She herself had graduated from the School of Foreign Languages, YCIT, in 1992. For a university, what would be prouder than seeing that her graduates send their children to her！Like Chen Jinhong, I have a lot of confidence in the learning atmosphere at YCIT. When my son failed to pass the examination for the graduate program after graduating from a university in Nanjing, I asked him to continue to prepare at the library of YCIT. One year later, not only did he go to graduate school, but also he fell in love with a girl who was admitted to graduate school as well!
I don’t think I am being prejudicious towards other universities when I advise you to choose YCIT. I just want to tell you that YCIT is a good choice. In fact, this article itself is proof that YCIT is a preferable alternative, because not every university has a teacher who will not spare his effort to boast of his workplace!
