2. The Key to Happiness

快乐的诀窍

Everyone living on the stage of the world is wondering what happiness is and how to be a happy person. However, happiness does not occur all by itself and there are some outward conditions that make for happiness.

生活在世界舞台上的人们都在思考到底什么是幸福，怎样才能成为幸福的人。然而，幸福并非与生俱来，一个人快乐与否往往取决于外在因素。

A man who suffers from illness cannot feel very happy. There is much truth in the famous joke: “Is life worth living? It all depends on the liver.” On the whole, good health makes for happiness; and to be happy we should obey the laws of health and keep well.

一个遭受病痛折磨的人不会感到快乐。有一个笑话蕴含着丰富的哲理“生活是否有意义完全取决于肝脏”。总的说来，健康能使人快乐，所以我们应该遵循健康法则并保持健康。

An idler is rarely a happy man. Workers are generally cheerful. A man who has a congenial适意的occupation finds happiness in his work. And even if one’s work is not as pleasant as it might be, the necessity of doing it and doing it regularly saves one from a lot of bothering/brooding thoughts.

无所事事的人是很少能够开心的，而有工作的人通常都是快乐的。一个有着称心工作的人在工作中会发现很多的乐趣，即使一个人的工作并不如想像中的那样满意，工作本身的必要性以及规律性，也不再会让人们有足够的时间和精力胡思乱想。

In addition, we should fill our leisure hours with healthy amusements and hobbies. “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”; and a man who has not learnt how to use his free time wisely will not be happy. Games（those that can really make people happy）, sports, music, reading and any pleasant and wholesome有益健康的occupation we most take to（we most take to 是occupation的定语从句）, will add much to the pleasure of life.

除此之外，我们应该用健康的活动和爱好来充实我们的空闲的时间。“只学习不玩耍的孩子也变傻。”一个不会协调利用自己时间的人是不快乐的。游戏（真正能使人们快乐的游戏），体育活动，音乐，阅读，凡是能给人们带来乐趣和健康的活动，我们都应该积极参与，这会为我们的生活增添不少乐趣。
