Oil Painting Tips : How to Clean Oil-Based Paint From a Brush .

Cleaning oil paint from brushes is a multi-step process that involves soaking each brush in a non-toxic solvent and exfoliating the bristles with a water-based brush soap, which conditions and extends the life of the brush. Thoroughly clean oil brushes at the end of the day.

 

Materials Needed

- Scrungie

- Brush Soap

- Non-Toxic Solvent (Thinner)

- Jars

- Walnut Oil

 

Step1 Brush Excess Paint onto Rag

Step 2 Put Scrungie in Jar with Thinner (i.e. Mona Lisa Odorless Paint Thinner), Non-toxic Brush & Studio Cleaner)

Step 3 Scrub Brush on Scrungie

Step 4 Soap the Brush over Sink with warm water and using Brush Cleaner

Step 5 Stroke Brush until Color is Gone
