“虎年”不能说 tiger year，“猪年”也不能说 pig year，今年是哪一年有固定的表达方式，要用 “Year of the + 动物” 来表达，所以“虎年”要说 Year of the Tiger，“猪年”要说 Year of the Pig，Year 和生肖的首字母都要大写哦~

我们表达“办年货”的时候，要先想想它是什么意思。“办年货”就是买年货、为了过春节购物，“年货”就是过年用的商品，可以说 New Year products，shop for 是“买”的意思，所以“买年货”就可以说 shop for New Year products。

“办年货”也就是“为了准备过春节而购物”，所以也可以说 do Spring Festival shopping。

贴门神

这里的 paste /peɪst/ 表示“粘贴”，许多同学看到“门神”第一反应就是 the god of the door，但英语里一般说 door god，不用大写。“贴门神”实际上贴的是门神像，所以后面要再加上 image 表示“画像”，door god image 就是“门神像”的意思。

贴窗花

前面讲了“贴”可以用 put up，也可以用 paste，这两个都可以。“剪窗花”作为一种艺术叫 paper cutting，但一个一个的“窗花”就要说 paper cutout，这里的 cutout 表示“用木头刻出来、或用纸剪出来的各种各样的图形”。那合在一起 put up paper cutouts 意思就是“贴窗花”。
