With China's competitive Gaokao, a national college entrance exam, just around the corner, teachers from one high school in Chongqing offered their students a unique gift encouraging them to do well in the test.
Designed in the style of a Chinese high-speed rail ticket, the pink cards feature the name of Yucai High School as the starting station, while the destination is left blank, allowing students to fill in their preferred choice of university.
The train number G2017 represents the year the students are taking Gaokao, and the time of departure marks the day they took their practice test.
Notably, the ticket price of 4380 RMB symbolizes the number of days in the 12 years of study between the beginning of elementary school and the end of high school.
The ticket also features a QR code in its lower right-hand corner, which, when scanned, conveys the blessings and best wishes from teachers.
Tsinghua University, Wuhan University and University of Hong Kong are some of the most-preferred destinations of the students.
For Li Zhenjiang, however, the ideal destination is Xiamen University, another first-class comprehensive university in China.
“I’ve always looked forward to living in a coastal area, which can inspire me to come up with new and fresh ideas every day in order to constantly improve myself,” said Li.
The teachers' unique gift is also one that means a lot to Li. “I’ve never received a gift that was so full of creativity and I cherish it so much.”
