在完成书面表达时，要注意要点间的逻辑关系。巧用连接词，条理清楚地把句子串联起来。
在本文中，笔者将介绍各种功能的连接词。注意这些连接词，有的为连词或（短语），可用于把句子中分句与分句，主句与从句连接起来；有的为副词（短语）或介词（短语），在句子仅做状语。
一、表达顺序的连接词
副词或介词（短语）：first(ly), second(ly), third(ly), last, finally, eventually, last but not least
Eg1:First, it is important to take a Chinese course because you can learn Chinese from your teachers and classmates.Second, it is also helpful to watch TV and read books, magazines and newspapers in Chinese whenever you have time and wherever you may be.Third, learning some customs and eating habits in China is useful as well. As the saying goes, do in Rome as the Romans do.Last but not least, you’d better made Chinese friends, which may improve your spoken English.
二、表示递进或补充的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：also, besides, additionally(此外，加之), in addition(此外，加之), furthermore, moreover, what’s more, more importantly, what’s worse, worse still, to make matters worse
Eg2:Liu Jia, also one of my best friends, is not only outgoing but also outgoing, which makes her popular among us.Besides, she has a good command of both spoken and written English, always ranking one of the top students in English exams.More importantly, confident all the time, she is really a good public speaker.
三、用以举例的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：for example, for instance(例如), such as, first(ly), second(ly), third(ly), last, finally
Eg3:The students in Class13 are gifted.For example, Emma is good at writing.
四、表示总结的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：to sum up(总之), in conclusion(最后，总之), in short(简言之), in a word(简言之), in summary(总之), finally
Eg4:Being an intelligent, creative, and responsible young man, Li Ming not only has a good command of English, but is also good at communicating and cooperating with others.In short, Li Ming would be a good choice for the part-time job.
五、表示结果和原因的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：as a result(结果), therefore(因此), thus(因此), thanks to(幸亏，多亏)
连词：because, since, so
Eg5:There are some problems which trouble me a lot. First…. Moreover…. What' s worse….Therefore, I wonder if you could offer me some advice on solving these problems.
六、表示让步/转折的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：after all(毕竟，终究), still, yet, however, instead, despite(尽管，虽然), in spite of(尽管，虽然),
连词：although, though, even if(即使), even though(即使), but
Eg6:Opinions are divided on the question. 60％of the students are against the idea of entrance fee.However, 40％ think that fees should be charged.
Eg7:Actually, I approve of the use of such bags because they can not only protect the environment but also save natural resources.After all, we should protect the earth so that we can have a clean place to live.
七、表示对比的连接词
副词（短语）或介词（短语）：in contrast(相比之下), on the one/ the other hand(一方面……另一方面……), instead, on the contrary(相反)
Eg8:On the one hand, cars are convenient.On the other hand, they cause pollution.
练习：使用恰当的连接词填空。
1.If we want to be skilled in using the computer, we need to practice using it. Some children become little experts in computer, just because they play with it every day. ____________________, if we just stick to books, we will still feel confused when using computers.
2.Some people take it for granted that (认为……理所当然) some lucky numbers can bring them good luck. ____________________, the so-called lucky number “8” is widely used now ____________________ it sounds like “getting rich” in Chinese and is believed to bring good fortune.
