MACAO, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Macao recorded a trade deficit of 5. 72 billion patacas (716.7 million U.S. dollars) in November, as merchandise import increased by 19.1 percent year-on-year to 6.41 billion patacas (803.1 million U.S. dollars), according to the figures released on Thursday by the city's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Total merchandise export for November amounted to 691 million patacas (86.58 million U.S. dollars), with value of domestic export decreasing by 19.1 percent to 177 million patacas (22.18 million U. S. dollars), the figures showed.
Meanwhile, total value of merchandise export in the first eleven months of 2012 rose by 19.9 percent year-on-year to 7.48 billion patacas (937.2 million U.S. dollars), value of re-exports increased by 32.2 percent, but that of domestic exports decreased by 3.3 percent.
Analyzed by destination, value of merchandise export to Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland in the first eleven months of 2012 increased by 37.4 percent, 25.1 percent respectively, while export to United States and the EU decreased by 6.5 percent and 18.2 percent, the DSEC said.
In the first eleven months of 2012, value of merchandise import from Chinese mainland (20.94 billion patacas) and the EU (15.19 billion patacas) expanded by 22.6 percent and 9.1 percent year-on-year, respectively, the figures indicated.
