The Road Not Taken

Two roads divergedin a yellow wood,

And sorry I couldnot travel both可惜我不能同时去涉足,

And be onetraveler, long I stood

And looked downone as far as I could我向着一条路极目望去,

To where it bentin the undergrowth;

Then took theother, as just as fair,

And having perhapsthe better claim,

Because it wasgrassy and wanted wear; 显得更诱人,更美丽;

Though as for thatthe passing there虽然在这条小路上,

Had worn themreally about the same, 很少留下旅人的足迹。

And both thatmorning equally lay

In leaves no stephad trodden black.

Oh, I kept thefirst for another day!

Yet knowing howway leads on to way, 但我知道路径延绵无尽头,

I doubted if Ishould ever come back.

I shall be tellingthis with a sigh

Somewhere ages andages hence:

Two roads divergedin a wood,and I—一片树林里分出两条路——

I took the oneless traveled by,

And that has madeall the difference.

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods theseare I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The Most of It

He thought he keptthe universe alone;

For all the voicein answer he could wake

Was but themocking echo of his own

From some tree-hiddencliff across the lake.

Some morning fromthe boulder-broken beach

He would cry outon life, that what it wants

Is not its ownlove back in copy speech,

But counter-love,original response.

And nothing evercame of what he cried

Unless it was theembodiment that crashed

In the cliff'stalus on the other side,

And then in thefar distant water splashed,

But after a timeallowed for it to swim,

Instead of provinghuman when it neared

And someone elseadditional to him,

As a great buck itpowerfully appeared,

Pushing thecrumpled water up ahead,

And landed pouringlike a waterfall,

And stumbledthrough the rocks with horny tread,

And forced theunderbrush-and that was all.

The Rose Family

The rose is arose,
And was always a rose.
But now the theory goes
That the apple's a rose,
And the pear is, and so's
The plum, I suppose.
The dear only knows
What will next prove a rose.
You, of course, are a rose--
But were always a rose.
