① She was smelling scent at one counter while I was buying some medicine at another.
② I smell something burning in the kitchen.
① I shall be hearing some new applications for the choir this afternoon.
② How are you feeling now?
③ He is seeing a client at 2:30.
如:believe, doubt, feel (= have an opinion), hate, image, know, (dis)like, love, prefer, realize, appreciate, recognize, remember, see (= understand), suppose, think (= have an opinion), understand, want, wish等。如:
误:I’m feeling it necessary to tell her about it.
正:I feel it necessary to tell her about it.(此处feel 意为“认为”)
误:I am appreciating your help very much.
正:I appreciate your help very much.
I am thinking this is their house, but I’m not sure.
正:I think this is their house, but I’m not sure.
