It's Snowing!

The demon eyed the boy suspiciously. "Aren't you scared of me?" asked the demon.

"No," said the boy. "Should I be?"

"Well, yes," said the demon. "I plan to eat you. Aren't you scared?"

妖怪怀疑地看着小男孩儿。“你不怕我吗？” 妖怪问。

“不怕。” 小男孩儿说，“我得怕你吗？”

“当然。” 妖怪说，“我要吃了你。你不怕吗？”

The boy shrugged. "Not really."

The demon hesitated for a moment and then moved closer. Suddenly the boy changed into Wukong. Wukong pulled out his iron bar and swung.

The demon jumped back, and Wukong missed.

小男孩儿耸耸肩。“没那么可怕。”

妖怪犹豫了一下，然后靠近了一点儿。突然，那个小男孩儿变成了悟空。悟空抽出了金箍棒打了过去。

妖怪向后跳了一下，躲开了。悟空没打中他。

"Who are you?" demanded the demon.

"I am Sun Wukong," said Wukong. "You are truly evil ! You even eat children."

"Sun Wukong?" said the demon. "I thought you were trapped under a mountain. What are you doing here?"

“你是谁？” 妖怪大声问。

“我是孙悟空。” 悟空说，“你太坏了！居然吃孩子。”

“孙悟空？” 妖怪说，“我以为你被困在五指山下了。你在这里干什么？”

"I came out," said Wukong. "I am traveling to the Western Paradise with the Tang Monk."

The demon's eyes lit up. "The Tang Monk!"

Wukong lunged. The demon spun around and disappeared.

“我出来了。” 悟空说，“我现在正护送唐僧去西天取经。”

妖怪的眼睛亮了。“唐僧！”

悟空打了过去。妖怪转身消失了。

Wukong returned to Laochen's home and told everyone what had happened.

"Because of you, my son is still alive," said Laochen. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," said Wukong.

悟空回到了老陈家。他把发生的一切告诉了大家。

“多亏你的帮助，我的儿子才能活下来。” 老陈说，“谢谢你。”

“不客气。” 悟空说，

"But I believe the demon now wants to capture my master. So in the morning we must find a boat and leave."

Meanwhile the demon was deep under the water. "I must capture the Tang Monk and eat him," he said to himself. "It won't be easy with that monkey around. I'll need some magic."

“但我觉得那妖怪现在想抓我师父了。明天一早，我们必须找到船离开。”

与此同时，妖怪正坐在河底。“我必须抓住唐僧吃了他。” 他自言自语地说，“有那猴子在，唐僧就不容易抓。我得用点儿法术。”

Late that night a cold wind blew. Snowflakes drifted one by one.

Bajie couldn't sleep. "It's freezing in here," he said to himself.

He looked at Wukong and Wujing. Both of them were sleeping soundly.

深夜，一阵寒风刮过，雪花开始一片片飘落。

八戒睡不着。“这里太冷了。” 他自言自语道。

他看了看悟空和悟净。两个人都睡得很香。

"Those two are sleeping well," said Bajie. "Their blankets must be warmer than mine."

In the morning Wukong woke up, shivering. "It was so...so cold last night," he said to himself.

“他们睡得真香。” 八戒说，“他们的毯子一定比我的暖和。”

第二天早上，悟空醒来，冻得发抖。“昨晚真…….真是太冷了。” 他自言自语道，

"I was so cold!" He looked down at his body. "No wonder I was cold! What happened to my blanket?"

Wujing woke up. "Why is it so cold in—ah-choo!—in here? Where did my blanket go?"

“好冷啊！” 他看了看自己。“难怪我冷！我的毯子呢？”

悟净也醒了。“为什么这么……阿嚏！冷？我的毯子呢？”

They looked at Bajie. Bajie was tucked cozily under three blankets. Even his head was covered.

Wukong gave him a kick. "Wake up, thief!"

Bajie rolled over, giggling under the blankets.

Wujing frowned. "You stole our—ah-choo!"

他们看着八戒。八戒盖着三条毯子睡得正香。从头到脚盖得非常严实。

悟空踢了他一下。“起来！小偷！”

八戒翻了个身，在毯子里咯咯笑。

悟净皱了皱眉头。“你偷了我们的......阿嚏！”

Wukong scratched his head. "Why is it so cold anyway? It's spring." He looked out the window and gasped. "It snowed last night!"

They woke the Tang Monk and Laochen, and everyone went outside. A thick blanket of snow covered the entire village.

悟空挠了挠脑袋。“为什么这么冷？现在是春天啊！” 他打开窗户，大吃一惊。“昨晚下雪了！”

他们叫醒了唐僧和老陈。大家走到屋外。一层厚厚的积雪盖住了整个村子。

"It would be dangerous to cross the river in this weather," said Laochen. "You should stay here until the snow melts."

A villager ran over. "The river is frozen solid!" he said.

"That's wonderful news!" The Tang Monk smiled. "Maybe we can walk across it."

“这样的天气过河会很危险的。” 老陈说，“你们最好等雪融化再走。”

一个村民跑了过来。“河里结冰了！” 他说。

“这消息太好了！” 唐僧笑着说，“我们可以走过河了。”

The travelers thanked Laochen and left. Soon they were standing at the edge of the frozen river.

"I wonder if it's safe to walk on," said Wujing.

"I'll test it with my rake," said Bajie.

唐僧一行人谢过老陈后出发了。很快他们就站在了结冰的河边。

“走过去是否会安全呢。” 悟净说。

“我用我的钉耙试试。” 八戒说。

Bajie walked onto the ice and raised his rake. Slam! He brought the rake down hard, but the ice didn't crack.

"It's solid," he said.

The travelers stepped onto the ice and started walking.

八戒走上了冰面，举起了钉耙。哐当！他用力砸冰面，但那冰面并没有裂开。

“很结实。” 他说。

唐僧一行人都踏上了冰面。

After a few hours, the riverbank was no longer in sight. Suddenly there was a rumbling sound, and the ice shook.

"What's wrong?" asked the monk.

"I don't know," said Wukong, "But we should be—"

Crack! Underneath them, the ice split wide open!

他们走了几个小时，可还是看不到河对岸。突然，一声巨响，冰面开始颤动。

“怎么回事？” 唐僧问。

“我不知道。” 悟空说，“但我们还是……”

咔嚓！在他们脚下，冰面裂开了！
